Jefferson County accident reports: Published Nov. 14

A two-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon on Route 21 near Hayden Road left six Jefferson County residents injured, according to a report by the Highway Patrol. Authorities said a Jeep Cherokee driven east on Hayden Road by Kevin P. Gard, 46, of De Soto, pulled into the path of a Dodge minivan driven south on Route 21 by Joan A. Miller, 59, of Imperial. After the collision, the Jeep traveled off the east side of the pavement and overturned. Gard was taken by helicopter to St. John's Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur with serious injuries. Miller and four passengers, all minor children, were treated for minor to moderate injuries at St. Anthony's Medical Center in south St. Louis County. Police said all the occupants of the minivan were wearing seatbelts.

A two-vehicle accident Nov. 6 on southbound Interstate 55 in Barnhart left a Festus woman seriously injured, according to a report by the Highway Patrol. Authorities said a Pontiac Solstice driven by Jeanette L. Schenk, 64, of Festus, was making a lane change at 10:40 p.m. when the rear of her vehicle struck the right front of a southbound Dodge Dakota pickup driven by Terry L. Gillis, 56, of Ste. Genevieve. The collision sent both vehicles off the left side of the pavement. The Pontiac ended up in the cable barrier, while the pickup crossed the northbound lanes and ended up on the side of the highway. Schenk was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's in south St. Louis County. Gillis was not injured. Police said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

A motorcycle accident Nov. 5 in St. Charles County left an Arnold man seriously injured, according to a report by the Highway Patrol. Authorities said BMW GSR operated by Timothy H. Meyer, 55, was eastbound on Route 94 at 6 p.m. when the bike traveled off the right side of the pavement and struck a utility pole. Meyer was taken by helicopter to St. John's Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur.
