Allen, Clack challenge Team USA
'Bound 4 Beijing' tour comes here Thursday

Jefferson County will be well represented when a squad of St. Louis all-stars challenges the U.S. Olympic Softball Team.

Two former area standouts and a longtime Jefferson County coach will be part of the St. Louis group that takes the field against the Olympians at 7 p.m., Thursday at ABC Park in St. Ann. Andee Allen from Imperial and Amanda Clack from Hillsboro will play for the St. Louis stars, and Dale Vineyard of Festus will be part of the four-man coaching staff.

The Olympic team will play here as part of its "Bound 4 Beijing" tour. Team USA had played 41 games through the weekend. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for youths 17 and younger.

Allen and Clack are both coming off banner spring softball seasons. Allen batted .379 and was an all-Big 12 Conference pick as a second baseman. Clack tied the Bradley single-season record by slugging eight home runs.
