The youngest patrons at the Jefferson County Public Library's Windsor Branch will be in for a special treat Saturday.

Author Doris Mueller will visit the library and read her newest children's book, "The Best Nest," to eager young readers.

The Missouri writer also wrote "Small One's Adventure," a picture book about an elephant; "Maryin' Sam," a middle school story; and "M. Jeff Thompson: Missouri's Swamp Fox of the Confederacy," a biography.Children's Librarian Patty Lagerman said that during the presentation, Mueller will take time to answer children's questions about writing and will explain her own writing experiences, such as why she became a writer and how she comes up with ideas for her stories.

In addition to her four books, Mueller has written poems, short stories, articles, puzzles and grant proposals.

Mueller said she has taught at every level from kindergarten to graduate school. Now she teaches writing courses at St. Louis Community College.

After the presentation, Mueller will have some of her books available for purchase. She will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Windsor Friends of the Library, a group that sponsors many of the library's programs.

Registration is required for Mueller's presentation. To register, or for more information, contact Lagerman at 636-461-1914.
